TürkTraktör and Women in Technology Association Connect Young Women

TürkTraktör, the most established manufacturer in the Turkish automotive industry, organized a training program in Ankara with the Women in Technology Association (WTECH) as part of the Miracles of Sprouts Technology and Innovation project, connecting young women with the world of technology and innovation. Aiming to guide young women on their career journeys, the training program provided inspiring speeches, technical trainings and networking opportunities for young people interested in the technology industry.

TürkTraktör Company Leader Matthieu Séjourné and Founding President of Women in Technology Association Zehra Öney delivered opening speeches at the training program, and TürkTraktör People, Culture & Transformation Leader Ceren Ertem Çimen gave a detailed presentation on the Miracles of Sprouts Technology and Innovation Program.

As part of the training program covering various fields of technology, Founding President of Women in Technology Association Zehra Öney provided insights on the future impact of artificial intelligence and its potential opportunities for women. Palo Alto Networks Türkiye, Africa and CIS Regional Leader Ali Fuat Türkay shared critical information on digital security and cyber threats. The Inspiring Women Leaders Series connected women leaders in technology with young women, allowing them to share their experiences. Utilify Co-Founder and CEO Bertuğ Oymak led a session titled “NFT, Blockchain and Digital Wallet Journey”, discussing the new opportunities offered by the digital economy. Units Network TR Lead and Academician Mete Ali Başkaya talked about the transformation of the finance sector and emerging trends in his session titled ‘Finance of the Future: Crypto Assets’. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tarkan Gürbüz from METU Faculty of Education focused on technology-based learning processes in his presentation titled ‘Technologies Shaping the Future: Applications and Digital Transformation in Education’.

Emphasizing their goals with Miracles of Sprouts Technology and Innovation Program, TürkTraktör Company Leader Matthieu Séjourné said, “As the most established and leading institution in agricultural mechanization in Türkiye, technology is at the core of our business. In line with our goal of ‘Prepares for the Future’, we implement projects that make a significant social impact. With the Miracles of Sprouts Technology and Innovation project, we aim to foster the career development of young women in technology and innovation, offering them training programs and opportunities to support their growth. With our project, which aims to reach 30,000 people by the end of 2026, we are making steady progress towards our goals of increasing the rate of female interns at TürkTraktör to 50% as well as increasing the rate of female employees in technology and innovation to 50%. We are committed to continuing this transformation for women to establish a stronger presence in the technology ecosystem.”

Founding President of Women in Technology Association Zehra Öney shared her insights on the event: “The Miracles of Sprouts Technology and Innovation Perspectives Training program, which connects 4,000 female university students with the world of technology, is more than an educational initiative; it’s a transformative movement that empowers women to establish a stronger presence in technology and innovation. The active participation of women is a must for the technologies of the future to be more inclusive, creative and sustainable. With this program, we not only equip young women with knowledge, but also empower them with courage, inspiration and a clear career vision. While the global employment rate of women in technology is around 28%, Türkiye’s rate is less than 10%. Even more strikingly, only 35% of women who graduate with a degree in STEM go on to pursue careers in the industry.

These trainings we have implemented in collaboration with TürkTraktör, are a critical step in fostering women’s access to technology and nurturing them as future leaders. While the overall employment rate of women in Türkiye is 31%, the rate is notably lower in the technology industry. Having more women in the technology industry presents a significant opportunity for both social development and economic growth. We are committed to continuing our efforts to unlock the potential of women and position them at the center of the technology ecosystem.”
